Westchester Urban Farm – Where Is It, What Is It?

Westchester’s Urban Farm was launched in January 2012 with the purpose to become a model example of how school gardens can transform the lives of students, teachers, community stakeholders and the environment. Within several short months, community leaders, with the support of Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets (WESM) administration and Projects With Purpose, one of the largest corporate social responsibility organizations, have come together to transform a large portion of land on WESM’s campus.

Our goal is to turn this acreage into a sustainable urban agriculture program where students can learn the latest methods of organic food production while also taking advantage of economic opportunities.

* Organic Farming
* Local Food Production
* Hydroponics
* Aquaponics
* Greenhouse + Raised Bed

In partnership with Projects With Purpose, we will reclaim the garden and its structures, providing not only a source of pride and education – but a practical benefit to the whole community when we make our organic, locally grown produce available to the neighborhood.

Be The Change You Want To See…join us on Earth Day, Sunday April 22 at WESM to help us demo and prep this area for the upcoming renovation on May 20, 2012. Everyone has something to give – time, a donation or even just encouragement. Come see the innovative things that are happening and help us make the Westchester Urban Farm a reality.
